Hoosier Inflammatory Bowel Disease Gut Club

The Hoosier Inflammatory Bowel Disease Gut Club, established in 2023, is a quarterly event offered by IU School of Medicine and the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Each session consists of a dinner alongside a cordial discussion of three inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patient cases, 30 minutes each, with discussion on management from IBD experts in the audience with some evidence-based presentations. Participants can also participate via Zoom, but it is highly encouraged attendees to be present in person to make the session more interactive. Registration is free, but those interested to attend in-person will be expected to RSVP one week in advance to allow for adequate venue space and meal options.

The next Hoosier IBD Gut Club event will be September 18, 2023 at the Phoenix Theatre.

Course Director's Message

For a long time, our division was hoping to establish a multi-disciplinary case conference discussing complex inflammatory bowel disease cases. As a department, we decided to make this a reality and CME office and the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology set out with hosting its first quarterly Hoosier Inflammatory Bowel Disease Gut Club.

I am happy to let you know that we now have our online outreach to participants from at least half a dozen states and have expanded to allied health care professionals including MDs, DOs, NPs, RNs, PAs and PharmDs. In addition to adult and pediatric IBDologists, we are excited to have general gastroenterology, surgery, colorectal surgery, rheumatology, dermatology and radiology sub-specialists participating in our conference.

We also feature the Hoosier IBD Gut Press in this conference, briefly highlighting the top five articles for that quarter which have a potential to change clinical practice.

We look forward to your participation and to the organic growth of this conference and its audiences over the next few years. Sit back and enjoy the next session either in-person or via Zoom!
