Rheumatologists within the Department of Medicine at IU School of Medicine accept patients from referring physicians and help to treat and manage an array of rheumatic diseases, including fibromyalgia, gout, lupus, osteoarthritis, myositis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and scleroderma.
Led by Steven T. Hugenberg, MD, division chief, the Rheumatology Division has a strong commitment to education of students, residents and fellows and serves as a major resource for ambulatory learning. A nearby tertiary university hospital, county hospital, VA facility and a well-established children’s hospital provide venues for excellent training. Faculty members are actively involved in clinical research with multiple areas of expertise, integrating basic research with specialized clinics and increasing commitment to providing innovative treatments to the community.
