Phase 3 (Year 4)

Phase 3 of medical training emphasizes advanced clinical experiences, professional development activities and individualized career exploration to help students to become extremely well-prepared physicians entering residency. In this phase of medical education, students engage in robust core clinical experiences that feature progressive levels of direct responsibilities in patient care. Phase 3 students also explore the increasingly advanced applications of foundational science knowledge and health systems science knowledge in clinical settings and develop ongoing self-directed, lifelong learning.
