Welcome from Department Chairs

Thank you for your interest in the Indiana University School of Medicine Med-Peds Residency Program. The Med-Peds Program at IU School of Medicine offers a unique opportunity for residents to train in a four-year combined medicine-pediatric program leading to Board eligibility in both disciplines. Our program is designed to prepare residents to provide exemplary health care for all ages, from infancy to geriatrics. The Med-Peds Residency Program at IU School of Medicine is considered one of the top programs in the Unites States.

We are very proud of the exceptional strength of our combined program. The Med-Peds Program at IU School of Medicine was started in 1982. Its excellent reputation is evident by the success of our graduates and the program’s growth. Our current roster of combined med-peds residents are fully integrated members of both departments, performing as full partners with their medicine and pediatric peers.

The strength of our departments lies in our wonderful faculty, considered top physicians in their respective fields nationally. Additionally, at IU School of Medicine, we believe that education is best achieved in a collegial atmosphere. We take pride in our Hoosier hospitality and in helping each of our residents achieve their personal goals. We are uniquely qualified to provide our combined program residents with exposure to a diverse patient population. Our five downtown Indianapolis hospitals, connected by IU Health shuttle, support a broad base of primary and tertiary care training sites, providing exposure to diverse populations, health care problems and diseases. This results in an exceptional learning environment for the new physician. Our primary care population is drawn from the 1.7 million residents of Indianapolis and surrounding communities, and our subspecialty referral base extends to the entire state of Indiana and encompasses a population of 6.4 million.

We invite you to visit Indianapolis and look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,
