Admissions Process

All applicants to the Surgical Critical Care (SCC) and Acute Care Surgery (ACS) Fellowship at IU School of Medicine apply through the Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship Application Service (SAFAS) and select either the one-year track (surgical critical care only) or the two-year track (surgical critical care and acute care surgery).

  • One-Year Track
The one-year option interviews residents who have completed a minimum of three years of general surgery training.
  • Two-Year Track
The two-year option only interviews residents who have completed a general surgery residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) prior to starting the fellowship. Individuals pursuing the two-year fellowship pathway must be eligible for a full and unrestricted medical license in the State of Indiana.
