Application for Vascular Surgery Residency

Medical students interested in applying to the Vascular Surgery residency program at Indiana University School of Medicine must meet minimum requirements and apply through the Electronic Residency Application Program (ERAS®).

Applicants can email the Vascular Surgery Program Coordinator, Vara Bonnell, to check the status of an application and/or address other questions about an application.

Minimum Requirements for U.S. Graduates

  • ERAS® Application with Photo
  • Letters of Recommendation (3 minimum)
  • United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 Score Minimum: 230
  • Number of Pass Attempts on all 3 USMLE Exams: 1
  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation
  • Medical Student Transcripts
  • Personal Statement

Minimum Application Requirements for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMG)

  • ERAS® Application with Photo
  • Letters of Recommendation (3 minimum; 1 must be from a practicing physician in the U.S.)
  • United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 Score Minimum: 230
  • Number of Pass Attempts on all 3 USMLE Exams: 1
  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation
  • Medical Student Transcripts
  • Personal Statement
  • Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) Certificate acquired at least 2 months before anticipated residency start date
  • Visa Sponsorship: J1 Visas only – no exceptions
  • FMG applications must be no more than two years removed from graduation of medical school
  • S. Clinical Experience is not mandatory, but encouraged
