The Indiana University Academic Health Center (IU AHC) is composed of three hospitals located one mile apart from each other. University Hospital and Methodist Hospital are adult hospitals of which Methodist Hospital serves as one of the city’s Level 1 Trauma Centers. Riley Children’s Hospital is the state’s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. Combined, all three hospitals maintain a capacity of 1,291 beds and see an estimated 1.9 million patients annually.

Indiana Clinical Translational Science Institute

The Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) epitomizes a culture of collaboration among the state’s premier research universities, comprised of the IU School of Medicine, Purdue University, and the University of Notre Dame, and robust public-private partnerships. The institute also nurtures important connections with the region’s leading biomedical research and business organizations, with full support from the state government.

CTSI aims to foster an infrastructure that promotes the translation of basic laboratory, a pillar of research, and population-based research into clinical trials and health practices.

Clinical Research Centers

The Clinical Research Centers (CRCs) are a component of the Indiana CTSI. There are three CRCs offered through the Indiana CTSI on the IUPUI campus. One is at IU Health University Hospital, one at Riley Hospital for Children, and the third is at the Neuroscience Center of Excellence in Goodman Hall.
