Neuropsychology

The Neuropsychology Section in the Department of Neurology at Indiana University School of Medicine provides neuropsychological evaluations for individuals with difficulties in memory, attention, language, and other aspects of thinking and behavior. Faculty evaluate children and adults with a wide range of neurologic and medical conditions, including epilepsy, cancer, brain injury, stroke, and Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Our evaluations determine whether patients are showing cognitive impairment, clarify underlying causes, and provide recommendations to help patients, families, and healthcare providers with next steps in care.

In addition to patient care, Neuropsychology faculty are dedicated educators. In conjunction with the Department of Psychiatry at IU School of Medicine, the program offers the Clinical Neuropsychology Residency, where faculty provide specialized postdoctoral training in neuropsychology. They also provide intensive predoctoral training at the graduate and internship levels.

Neuropsychology faculty are National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded researchers, with expertise in the behavioral neuroscience of alcohol use disorder risk, as well as neuropsychological perspectives on the effects of cancer treatment, traumatic brain injury, and early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, among many other topics.

Neuropsychology faculty are also active in state and national organizations, serving on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN) and the Indiana Psychological Association (IPA), as grant reviewers for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and on the National Advisory Council on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.
