The Division of Cardiology in the Department of Internal Medicine at IU School of Medicine strives for excellence in patient care, research and teaching.

Led by Subha Raman, MD, MSEE, the institute’s physicians, scientists, staff and trainees work diligently to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease while helping individuals and families maintain good cardiovascular health. The institute’s academic expertise offers Hoosiers the highest quality heart and vascular care and fosters relentless innovation that fuels better health for the people of Indiana and beyond.

Tradition of Excellence

The Krannert Institute of Cardiology was founded in 1963 through the generous support of Herman and Elnora Krannert and the visionary leadership of its founding director, Dr. Charles Fisch. The goal for this specialty division at IU School of Medicine’s Department of Internal Medicine has always been excellence in cardiovascular health through patient care, education, and research.

Physician Education

The Krannert Institute of Cardiology at IU School of Medicine offers Continuing Medical Education at local, regional and national levels. This includes weekly conferences at the Krannert Institute as well as an annual cardiology update for primary care physicians. A major highlight is the annual Joan and Douglas Zipes Visiting Professor program.
