Urologic Oncology

The IU School of Medicine Department of Urology faculty are experts in several areas of urologic oncology, including bladder, kidney, prostate and testicular cancer. These physicians provide top-ranked clinical care in treating these cancers and the department has a history of developing new ways to treat these cancers through innovative research and clinical trials. The department also trains the next generation of urologists to care for patients with these cancers through the department’s fellowship in urologic oncology.

Bladder Cancer

Department of Urology faculty created a treatment for bladder cancer, the Indiana Pouch, in the 1970s. They continue to research new ways to diagnose and treat bladder cancer.

Kidney Cancer

Faculty experts are researching new ways to diagnose and treat kidney cancer while providing exceptional clinical care for patients.

Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men in the United States. Urologists at IU School of Medicine pioneered a new treatment for this cancer that draws patients from all over the world.

Department of Urology faculty developed multiple treatments for testicular cancer. The department is now one of the world’s largest referral centers for the nerve-sparing retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND) procedure.
