The IU School of Medicine Department of Urology is an international leader in many urology areas of expertise, including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), kidney stones, prostate cancer and more. Faculty members provide top-ranked clinical care in each area and conduct groundbreaking, innovative research to transform urologic care for patients from around the world. Many innovative treatments in these areas were developed at IU School of Medicine, which created arguably the first Department of Urology in the country in 1887. Faculty experts provide clinical care through Indiana University Health at five Indianapolis-area hospitals, including IU Health University Hospital, IU Health Methodist Hospital, Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, Riley Hospital for Children and the VA Medical Center.
