Sexual Health Research Fellowship

The Sexual Health Research Fellowship at the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Urology offers a full-time research fellowship position aimed at fostering the development of essential research skills by engaging fellows in the entire research process, from project initiation to publication. This is a one-year paid mentored research fellowship. Research fellows will focus on advancing the field of sexual health for both women and men through dedicated clinical research.

Expectations

Undergraduates, medical students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and clinical fellows are eligible to apply. The role of the research fellow will be to develop both retrospective and prospective clinical studies in the fields of male and female sexual health. Key responsibilities include all aspects of a research project including obtaining IRB approval, creating and maintaining a REDCap database, recruiting patients for clinical trials, performing data analysis, preparing manuscripts and presenting locally and nationally. The fellow’s projects will focus on men’s health including erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, hypogonadism and infertility as well as female sexual health including female sexual dysfunction, pelvic pain and hormone management. 

Mentoring

The fellow will work primarily with two urology staff and there will be opportunities to observe in clinical settings both in the office and the operating room. There will be weekly in-person research meetings to discuss ongoing projects and troubleshoot any potential problems. Fellows are also expected to attend weekly urology grand rounds conferences.
