Application for Plastic Surgery Residency

Medical students interested in applying to the Plastic Surgery residency program at Indiana University School of Medicine must meet eligibility requirements and apply through the Electronic Residency Application Program (ERAS®).

The Plastic Surgery Integrated Residency Program follows all policies established by the American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons (ACAPS) in regard to recruitment. The first round of interview offers will be distributed on November 10th, 2022. Applicants that receive an interview offer are strongly encouraged to either accept or decline the interview offer no later than midnight on Sunday, November 15th.

Minimum Requirements for U.S. Graduates

  • ERAS® Application with Photo
  • Letters of Recommendation (3 minimum)
  • United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 Score Submitted
  • United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 2 Minimum: 240
  • Number of Pass Attempts on all 3 USMLE Exams: 1
  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation
  • Medical Student Transcripts
  • Personal Statement

Minimum Application Requirements for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMG)

  • ERAS® Application with Photo
  • Letters of Recommendation (3 minimum; 1 must be from a practicing physician in the U.S.)
  • United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 Score Submitted
  • United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) Step 2 Score Minimum Score: 240
  • Number of Pass Attempts on all 3 USMLE Exams: 1
  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation
  • Medical Student Transcripts
  • Personal Statement
  • Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) Certificate acquired at least 2 months before the anticipated residency start date
  • Visa Sponsorship: J1 Visas only – no exceptions
  • FMG applications must be no more than two years removed from graduation of medical school
  • S. Clinical Experience is not mandatory but encouraged
