Research/QI Interests: Medical Education

Why PHM? I love hospital medicine because of the breadth of pathology it provides and the broad skillset necessary. I thrive on the multidisciplinary aspect of hospital medicine- to be successful as a hospitalist, it is required to coordinate with  subspecialists, social workers, case managers, dieticians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and more.Playing the role of  team captain to not only run the plays, but to keep the team working together for the common goal is the aspect of hospital medicine that brings me the most joy.

Why IU/Riley? As someone with strong interests in medical education, the large academic setting that IU provides is ideal for me. The breadth of clinical exposure that IU offers both at Riley and its community sites provides a great learning experience. Lastly, the hospitalist division is full of passionate, knowledgeable hospitalists with a variety of interests that are the best mentors.

Undergraduate School: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Medical School:  University of Illinois College of Medicine

Hobbies: Basketball, hiking, travel, trying new foods/restaurants
Research/QI Interests: Tackling vaccine hesitancy, Medical Education-improving curriculum and providing complete training during 3rd year pediatric clerkship

Why PHM? Throughout my career, I have always been excited by how diseases or infections present in patients and have enjoyed the process of working up interesting and complex cases as a diagnostician. So much so that I found myself explaining my experiences to anyone I could so that they could share the same excitement with me! Being a PHM fellow, I get to hone my teaching skills towards residents and students, work on projects to improve workflow and efficiency in the inpatient setting, and experience and see interesting cases while helping patients and families through a stressful time of their life.

Why IU/Riley? I think you do not truly know a place until you have gone to that place, trained, and lived there. I had the amazing opportunity to do an away rotation at Riley Hospital for Children and IU North as a third-year resident. During my time here, I felt that I will get excellent training here (in both tertiary and community care settings) and be able pursue my career interests. I also felt the incredible support of the all the attendings that I worked with. They always checked in with me to see how I was doing, tailored their rounds so that I could get the best experience to grow and learn, and pushed me to become a well-rounded physician and teacher. I knew it was the best choice for me!
