Faculty physicians in the Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery include nationally and internationally recognized clinical experts. They were pioneers in the field of pediatric cochlear implants and each of the department’s research investigators contribute to a greater understanding of diseases and issues related to the ear, nose and throat. The scientists and clinician-investigators in the department perform a broad range of research, including infant speech perception, stem cell research in the auditory system, neurofibromatosis type two pathophysiology, cancer cachexia and peripheral nerve regeneration.
Faculty members continue to expand their clinical programs across Indiana and build on the strengths of the otolaryngology program in hearing while furthering the department’s translational programs in head and neck cancer.
