These resources are designed to provide information on physician substance use disorders, including identifying signs and symptoms, and to connect residents and program leaders with resources if they or someone they know is struggling with a substance use disorder.
UPMC WELL Toolkit: Substance Use Resources
The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) WELL Toolkit "was designed for physicians by physicians, with content that is evidence-based and specific to physicians and the practice of medicine." It speaks directly to ACGME requirements for well-being in a meaningful way.
UPMC identified two primary goals for the WELL Toolkit's Substance Use Section:
- provide background on physician substance use disorders with an emphasis on identifying signs and symptoms, and
- remind learners of what to do if they, or someone they know, are struggling with a substance use disorder.
