Neonatal Resuscitation Symposium

SALSA (Surfactant Administration through Laryngeal or Supraglottic Airways): Come Learn How!

Surfactant administration through laryngeal or supraglottic airways, aka, SALSA, is a less invasive method to deliver surfactant to term and preterm infants, and is becoming more common in the US. This workshop will begin by discussing the use of supraglottic airways (SGAs) in neonatal resuscitation, including the laryngeal mask airway (LMA). Then surfactant administration through laryngeal or supraglottic airways (SALSA) will be demonstrated. Participants will have the opportunity to use manikin and equipment for hands-on practice of SGA/LMA placement as well as the SALSA technique. This workshop from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, will be led by SALSA expert, Dr. Kari Roberts, a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology at the University of Minnesota.
