  • Part-Time Neuropsychometrist (Pediatric Hematology/Oncology)

This position will be working as a Neuropsychometrist to evaluate how the most common inherited blood disorder in the world, Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), is predominantly seen in those of African, Asian, and Latin descent. With minoritized communities primarily affected by SCD, systemic racism and structural inequalities in education and healthcare have notably contributed to inequitable access and the neglect of this population within healthcare. These social-environmental factors alongside disease pathophysiology, directly contribute to neurocognitive deficits, poor academic functioning, and declining mental health in children and adolescents with SCD. Therefore, implementation of neurocognitive screening alongside mental health, quality of life, and social determinants of health (SDoH) screening, during regularly scheduled comprehensive SCD visits could reduce disparities to access to healthcare and education resources.
