The Indiana University School of Medicine Indianapolis campus is located just a mile and a half from the center of downtown Indianapolis, which is ranked eighth by Forbes for best places in the nation for business and careers, with recognition for major health care industry contributions.

Indianapolis offers many opportunities for cultural and historical enrichment, including a symphony, theaters and museums. The award-winning Indianapolis Zoo, Children’s Museum and Conner Prairie also provide residents with cultural activities and entertainment year round. IU School of Medicine residents receive a benefits package that includes comprehensive health and medical coverage as well as mental health and personal counseling care. Paid time off for fellows is also encouraged, as well as receiving preferential parking at no charge, and tuition discounts at Indiana University for dependents and spouse. Division of Infectious Diseases fellows also receive an educational stipend to help pay for books and other educational items and four weeks of vacation each year.

Infectious Diseases "Boot Camp"

Infectious Diseases fellows will participate in a nine day "boot camp" to help get acclimated to the school and city. Boot camp includes tours of campus, highlights of nearby attractions and opportunities within the city, and information about the several nearby hospitals and other medical facilities and resources.
