Hospital medicine faculty in the Department of Medicine play a critical role in training the physician workforce of the future. Affiliated teaching hospitals host medical students and residents from the Indiana University School of Medicine training programs and embed them within the patient care team. Faculty also teach away from the bedside and participate in lectures and physical exams skills training, as well as training advanced practice providers and trainees from multiple disciplines. These efforts are supported by dedicated roles and faculty development offerings.
IU School of Medicine hospitalists have received numerous awards and accolades for their excellence in education.
