What is the FIT Core?
The FIT Core stands for the Function, Imaging, and Testing (FIT) Core. It is part of a National Institute of Health research grant. The core collects information surrounding bone and muscle health. The reason for collecting this information is to create a large data base that researchers with given approval can use to advance the understanding of musculoskeletal disease or disorders.
Each participant at the FIT Core has a unique ID number so that when their information is sent to researchers, their identifiable information (e.g., name, date of birth, address, occupation, etc.) remains anonymous. Completion of this study takes about 90 minutes. Participants will receive valuable information about their bone and muscle health, up to $40 in Walmart gift cards for their time, and parking validation. There is no cost to participants for taking part in this study.
If you choose to participate in the imaging portion of the study, you will receive a printout of your bone and muscle mass assessments. This information is sent with you, which can be given to your doctor for more information if desired.
