Dr. Pallavi Bhattaram, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Orthopaedics and Department of Cell Biology, Emory University will be visiting the ICMH and giving a seminar talk titled: “Fibroblast-like Synoviocytes: Their roles in Joint Inflammation, Arthritis Memory, Pain and Beyond”.
Dr. Bhattaram obtained her Ph.D., in Biochemistry from the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, India, during which she developed methods for the chemical synthesis lipid modified peptides that mimic the biological activity of native proteins. She completed her postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Thomas Weimbs, University of California, Santa Barbara. She started her faculty position at the Orthopaedics Department at Emory University in 2018. Her research is directed towards understanding the molecular networks governing the pathophysiology of musculoskeletal diseases, especially osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
