The Family Medicine Residency program at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital offers experience in global medicine. Nearly 40 residents have experienced rotations in developing countries over the past several years. Residents have recently traveled to Mexico, Haiti, Samoa, Ecuador, Kenya, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda and Liberia. Where will you go?
The program offers a formalized curriculum that addresses multiple areas of global and travel medicine. You will learn to better understand the social, economic, cultural and environmental factors that contribute to health and disease throughout the world while working in the field and creatively using limited resources. You’ll also develop many other clinical and interpersonal skills in this rotation.
IU School of Medicine also offers a formal Residency Track in Global Health. The Global Health Track curriculum is co-curricular alongside each participant’s residency educational mission and requirements.
