Indiana CTSI Pharmacometrics Modeling and Simulation Fellowship

The Indiana CTSI Pharmacometrics Modeling and Simulation program, a partnership between the IU School of Medicine Department of Medicine Division of Clinical Pharmacology and the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI), offers training in the critical science of quantitative pharmacology.

The mission of the Indiana CTSI Pharmacometrics Modeling and Simulation program is to provide training regarding the application of pharmacometrics to enable development of personalized medicines. This mission is achieved through provision of foundational learning, as well as participation in collaborative research which fosters active learning and real-world problem solving.

Our fellowship program provides highly individualized training opportunities in quantitative pharmacology and pharmacometrics, including application of non-linear mixed effects modeling (i.e. population pharmacokinetic (popPK/PD) modeling), Bayesian modeling and Monte-Carlo Simulation techniques, physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling, data mining, machine learning and quantitative systems pharmacology. Trainees benefit from interaction with the division’s T32 Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship program, experts in clinical pharmacology, drug development, biostatistics, computational biology and bioinformatics. Trainees also develop the critical skills necessary for participation in state-of-the-art and team-based pharmaceutical research for model-informed drug discovery and precision medicine.

The Indiana CTSI Pharmacometrics Modeling and Simulation Fellowship includes active involvement in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology’s personalized therapeutics seminar series, weekly journal club and formal didactic curriculum.  In addition, the program provides lectures from faculty and leading industry experts in popPK/PD and PBPK modeling and opportunities to attend seminars, workshops, and conferences relevant to quantitative pharmacology.
