Benefits for Fellows at IU School of Medicine

Professional Development Funds

Professional development funds are provided by the department for each year of fellowship training in the amount of $2,250. These funds may be used for approved educational expenses and to offset the cost of Board application fees. Funds may also be used to cover expenses associated with professional meetings and educational conferences.

Presentation Support Funds

To encourage and support research participation, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides residents and fellows with $1,000 for the first presentation made at a national meeting. Fellows can earn $500 for each additional presentation (limited to three total presentations) given at the same meeting. For each meeting, fellows have the opportunity to earn up to $2,000 in funding which will be an addition to their professional funds balance.

Paid Time Off

Pathology fellows receive 20 weekdays (four weeks) of paid time off annually. In addition, fellows are allowed four business days for interviews, board exams, and other circumstances approved by the program directors.
