Weekly conferences:
There are four hours of dedicated didactics weekly, which take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
Skills Laboratory:
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery holds a monthly SkillsLab during the Friday morning Fracture Conference.
Anatomy Conference:
Anatomy Conference is incorporated into the Wednesday morning Grand Rounds Conference curriculum with two two-hour sessions for upper extremity, two two-hour sessions for lower extremity, and one two-hour session for spine each academic year.
Journal club:
The residency program holds journal club once per rotation, during which key scientific articles are reviewed and discussed.
Outside courses:
Residents will participate in national courses during PGY 2, PGY 3 and PGY 5.
Annual Department Conferences:
In November, the department hosts the Richard E. Lindseth Pediatric Orthopaedic Lectureship with a visiting professor and presentations from pediatric orthopaedists in the community and the region. In June, the department hosts the Garceau-Wray Orthopaedic Lectures, with a visiting professor and presentations from each of the PGY 4 residents, as well as presentations by the Adult Reconstruction, Hand, Spine, Sports, and Trauma fellows.
