IU School of Medicine’s Fort Wayne campus has eight full-time basic science faculty with more than 75 years of combined teaching experience. Medical students at the Fort Wayne campus also benefit from the guidance of more than 400 volunteer faculty, community physicians that are dedicated to teaching medical students. The preceptors provide students with clinical experiences using the latest technologies for diagnosing and treating patients.

Many opportunities exist, from occasional teaching once a semester to frequent student interactions depending on your availability, such as:
- Clinical preceptor for 1st and 2nd year medical students — primary care physicians preferred, half a day/month
- Clinical teaching in clerkships or electives — two to four week commitment in your specialty
- Physician mentor — supporting students throughout their medical education by sharing advice on workload, stress, doubts, focus, work-life balance
- Student outreach clinic adjunct faculty — one evening per month, overseeing patient care during the clinic operations of the student outreach clinic housed at Matthew 25 Clinic
- Point-of-care ultrasound instructor — introducing medical students to bedside ultrasound (cardiac, lung, renal, MSK), several sessions throughout the year
- Clinical instructor — working with a small group of 8-10 students who meet monthly for a two hour journal club.
