Research Education for College Students (RECS) provides a comprehensive understanding of medical research components, methodology, applications and ethics to undergraduate students. This six-week program is comprised of in-person lectures and small group activities that correlate with the program objectives.
Upon completion of the RECS program, participants will have:
- An increased knowledge of medical research
- An increased knowledge on the importance of regulations regarding research
- The ability to identify and evaluate the components of a research manuscript
- An understanding of research methodologies and applications
- The ability to review data and determine the clinical significance of derived data
- An understanding of the practice of evidence-based medicine and the impact of clinical research on patient care
Program Structure
Sessions for the RECS program are held every Wednesday morning from 9 am–12 pm (noon) beginning on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 and ending on July 24, 2024. It is mandatory for participants to attend all sessions. This program does not provide college credit hours for participation and is free to enroll. Participants will receive a certificate at the completion of the program.
Program Requirements
Applications for the RECS program will be accepted through February 9, 2024 at 5 pm. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.25 and have completed at least six credit hours of undergraduate sciences courses. This program accepts approximately 20 students per year.
