Richard Baron, M.D., and internist in Philadelphia, will discuss his recent study that provides a detailed look at why primary care doctors work so hard, and why the current payment system doesn’t work.

Sound Medicine producer Colleen Iudice will look at the use of integrative medicine in cancer treatments and why some doctors are skeptical.

Leisha Osborn, a supervisor and technician at the Neurophysiology Lab at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, will explain the program she started which allows for brain monitoring 24 hours a day. This program is the first of its kind in the country.

David Waters, D.V.M., Ph.D., professor of oncology at the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine, will discuss his “Old Grey Muzzle Tour,” studying the nation’s oldest pet Rottweilers for clues to healthy aging.

This week’s Sound Medicine “Checkup” will explore laughter exercise with Steve Wilson, founder of the World Laughter Tour.
