Promoting Well-being

We believe that wellness and resilience are imperative to being an effective resident. You will be supported by talented faculty, develop close bonds with your fellow residents, and have resources available to you that can only be found at an organization like IU School of Medicine.

We pride ourselves on our resident-led and faculty-supported wellness initiatives and encourage our residents to innovate in creating wellness opportunities for themselves and their peers. We participate in a GME-wide wellness committee.

Helping you succeed

Our program culture is one of our greatest strengths. We operate as a family, and you will find a high level of camaraderie among residents and faculty physicians. The vast majority of our faculty volunteer their time because they are passionate about physician education. They want to see you succeed and get the most out of every rotation and your residency as a whole. As a Transitional Year resident, you will be set up for success in your PGY2 program and beyond by a strong curriculum and unmatched experiences.

You will be treated equally to PGY1 internal medicine and family medicine residents at Ball Memorial Hospital, and will be expected to treat your fellow residents with respect. All of our residents are encouraged to embrace their differences, listen to one another, and build an environment that is welcoming and supportive for all.

Committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice

IU School of Medicine seeks to train and support residents and fellows from diverse backgrounds in an inclusive environment that supports innovation, collaboration, and discovery.
