The vision of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (FAPD) is to develop a vibrant, healthy, diverse and inclusive community where everyone can thrive and advance the school’s mission and cultivate its core values.


  • Establish and sustain a culture that promotes faculty vitality, organizational learning and diversity.
  • Train, educate and empower faculty and staff leaders who can promote the development of others and craft a culture of wellness and inclusive excellence.
  • Plan, communicate and implement evidence-based faculty and leadership development activities.
  • Ensure effective and successful recruitment, appointment, orientation, retention and promotion of faculty.

They are bite-sized (10-20 minute lessons) so you can dip in and out during natural gaps in your work. Researchers can choose their own learning path—whether that is working through a course in order, or choosing specific modules.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Standards for P&T

In June of 2022, the Indiana University School of Medicine Faculty Steering Committee (FSC) approved a modification to the school’s promotion and tenure expectations requiring faculty to report activities in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
