INDIANAPOLIS – More than 100 breath research specialists from around the world are expected in Indianapolis this summer for the 2024 Breath Summit. Hosted by Indiana University School of Medicine and the Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research in collaboration with the International Association of Breath Research (IABR), the biennial conference offers attendees an engaging opportunity to hear about the latest breakthroughs and emerging topics in breath research, network with existing collaborators and establish new connections with peers.
“Breath research plays a crucial role in disease detection and patient outcomes for numerous conditions like asthma, RSV, cystic fibrosis and more,” said Michael D. Davis, RRT, PhD, associate research professor of pediatrics at IU School of Medicine and the international chair of this year’s program. “Sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration at the Breath Summit has the potential to significantly influence global public health.”
The 2024 Breath Summit will be held June 3 through 6 at the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown. It will feature over 60 presentations and three robust poster sessions by leading breath experts, students and trainees highlighting cutting-edge research and technological advancements. Professionals from academia, basic sciences, medicine and the health care industry will attend. Four representatives from IU will present, including Davis.
“We’re excited to host this year’s Breath Summit in Indianapolis, bringing it back to the United States for the first time since 2012,” Davis said. “This event is an incredible opportunity to share groundbreaking research and advance the field of breath analysis while showcasing the exceptional research and science community we have here at IU.”
