Midwest financial aid professionals to meet at IUPUI

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INDIANAPOLIS — More than 100 university financial aid professionals will attend the Midwest Association of Financial Aid Administrators’ annual Summer Institute and Leadership Symposium at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, beginning June 1.

“We will be discussing a myriad of federal student aid regulations and how to ensure higher education institutions remain compliant,” said Marvin Smith, director of IUPUI’s Office of Student financial Services.

Training topics will include the federal aid application process and verification of data, Federal Direct Loans and Pell Grants, and the appropriate use of professional judgment decisions to adjust federal aid eligibility.

“IUPUI Student Financial Services staff members have been highly involved in the planning for this special event and are proud to show off IUPUI to financial aid professionals from across the Midwest,” Smith said.

IUPUI is helping to maintain a longstanding Hoosier tradition of assisting in the development of financial aid professionals within the state, region and nation, Smith said. “The financial aid profession is committed to helping all students achieve college dreams despite a lack of financial resources.”
