FOR IMMEDIATEL RELEASE

Indianapolis — Camp Brosius, Indiana University’s summer resort retreat for families on the scenic waterfront of Wisconsin’s Elkhart Lake, will offer three theme weeks in June; one each focused on golf, art and sailing.

In August, the camp will feature an extended weekend for adults only.

It’s the first time the camp has designated special weeks that allow campers to learn or improve their skills in a single activity. While some members of the family join the themed week activities, other family members can enjoy other regular camp activities like kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, tennis, archery and hiking.

Located 60 miles north of Milwaukee, Camp Brosius combines a family vacation with a summer camp experience.

Golf week will take place June 14 to 20, offering one track for golf enthusiasts and another for new players. Golf enthusiasts will play four different courses, including Erin Hills, home to the 2017 U.S. Open, and an optional game at The Straits, home of the 2015 PGA Championship. Former golf pro and IU School of Physical Education and Tourism Management faculty member Brian Krohn will serve as the instructor.

The second week, June 21 to 27, is art week. Campers will get in touch with their creative sides, whether they are a seasoned artist or someone who wants to learn. Herron School of Art and Design lecturer Corey Jefferson and his wife, Megan, who teaches art at the Indianapolis Art Center, will serve as instructors of classes designed for all ages.

Sailing week is June 28 to July 4. Sailors will learn or improve their skills under the instruction of certified sailing instructor Steve Eliasen. Since 2007, Eliasen has taught thousands of people how to sail through his business, International Youth Sailing of Oshkosh. Beyond group instruction, Eliasen will provide individual instruction upon request. Campers will use Camp Brosius’ Sunfish, Butterfly, Hobie Wave, American 14-foot and Hobie 16-foot boats for training.

Camp Brosius ends its season this year with an extended weekend getaway for adults only, allowing campers to rest and reboot by leaving behind the distractions and responsibilities of work or parenting. The extended weekend, Aug. 26 to 30, also corresponds with the NASCAR Xfinity series at Elkhart Lake’s Road America.

New campers who come to Camp Brosius for theme weeks or the extended weekend will receive a 10 percent discount (reference coupon code FBK2015).
