Indiana University police arrest IUPUI student on charge of theft

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana University Police Indianapolis have arrested IUPUI student Ronald Davis on a charge of theft.

At 4:30 p.m. July 23, IU Police received a report of the theft of a cell phone at Taylor Hall, 815 W. Michigan St., with a suspect still on the scene.

Police reported that a witness saw Davis enter a classroom and walk past a woman whose cell phone was on the table next to her. When the woman was looking away, the witness said, Davis discreetly grabbed the phone and quickly left the room. The witness said he confronted Davis, telling him the police were notified, to have a seat and to return the phone. Police said Davis complied with the witness’s request.

Davis, Indianapolis, was arrested on a charge of theft and transported to the Arrestee Processing Center by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
