Legendary animator, visual effects supervisor to speak at IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS – John Van Vliet, a legendary animator and visual effects supervisor, will deliver a presentation at IUPUI from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 16, announced Computer Graphics Technology and the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI.

 The presentation will take place in the theatre on the lower level of the Campus Center, 420 University Blvd. It is free and open to the public. There also will be a live stream of the presentation, beginning at 6 p.m.

 Van Vliet has worked on many of history’s biggest movies, including:

  This semester Van Vliet is contributing to a class at IUPUI: The Road to Hollywood with John Van Vliet. The course discusses the culture of the entertainment industry and better prepares students for careers in this challenging visual field. Topics in this unique course include: how to get hired in the entertainment industry; the art and business of creativity; budgets; creative problem solving; the film triangle of art, business and technology; industry politics; leadership, teamwork and collaboration; how to keep a job and not get fired; taking advantage of opportunity; and dealing with egos in the workplace and the studio culture.
