Jul 08, 2009

Dr. Agostino, a native of South Bend, Ind., is a 1985 graduate of Notre Dame and a 1989 graduate of the IU School of Medicine. He completed a residency in otolaryngology at the IU medical center in 1993.

He recently joined the IU School of Medicine faculty as a clinical assistant professor of otolaryngology. Previously, Dr. Agostino practiced with Otorhinolaryngology, Inc., in South Bend.

Dr. Agostino’s particular clinical interests include pediatric otolaryngology, nasal valve reconstruction, and sinus surgery with research interests in improving otolaryngology education for residents and correcting nasal valve deformities for patients with nasal obstructions. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology, a member of the Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Agostino also serves as president of the Indiana Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.

“I am happy to assume the role of president of the Indiana University School of Medicine Alumni Association,” Dr. Agostino says. “My predecessor, Dr. Rob Forste, has given significant time and service to the alumni association over his four decades as a physician, and I appreciate all that he has done for the school and the association. As president, I want to continue the great traditions of the alumni association while focusing time and attention on our relationship with alumni, especially those residing near our medical centers throughout the state.”

Other officers on the board of directors are: Robert Paul, M.D., treasurer, Indianapolis; Gary Beck, M.D., executive council representative, Evansville; Terry Brown, M.D., president-elect, Jasper; and Robert Forste Jr., M.D., immediate past-president, Columbus.

The Indiana University School of Medicine Alumni Association serves the almost 17,000 graduates of the Indiana University School of Medicine and is a dues-supported constituent society of the Indiana University Alumni Association.
