Irish University Students to Intern with Riley Heart Research Center

“We are so pleased to invite our first students from the University of Ulster to study for a year with our pediatrics developmental cardiology research program,” said Anthony Firulli, Ph.D., associate professor of pediatrics. “This academic collaboration promotes goodwill and an enhanced academic experience for students along with developing cultural ties.”

To explore more opportunities Firulli and his colleague Simon Conway, Ph.D., professor of pediatrics, both from the Riley Heart Research Center at the Wells Center, will visit Ireland in April and meet the first student participants. Plans call for two students to arrive in Indianapolis in August 2009 for the 2009-2010 academic year.

Only one other university in the United States participates in such an agreement with Ulster, and that is the University of Texas Health Science Centre in San Antonio, Texas.
