Researchers from the Indiana Center for Regenerative Medicine and Engineering (ICRME), within the Department of Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine, participated in a brainstorming workshop on bioengineering and regenerative medicine, held virtually Sept. 20, with a research team from The University of Manchester (UoM) to consider potential research collaborations.
UoM hopes to forge closer ties with Indiana University as a strategic partner, as discussed during a campus visit by Dr. Keith Brennan, Vice Dean Internationalisation, UoM, based on the interest from The Faculty of Biology, Medicine & Health program at UoM.
Facilitated by Dr. Ian McIntosh, director of International Partnerships, IUPUI and Dr. Holly Shiels, director for Internationalization, School of Medical Sciences, UoM, both teams delivered short presentations and discussed collaborative opportunities during the workshop. Presenters included: Dr. Chandan K. Sen, Dr. Parker Evans, Dr. Subhadip Ghatak, Dr. Kanhaiya Singh from ICRME and Dr. Sarah Cartmell, Dr. Stephen Richardson, Dr. Olga Tsikou, Dr. Shaun Wood and Dr. Jonny Blaker from UoM.
“We are excited at the prospect of collaborating with UoM to advance innovation in bioengineering and regenerative medicine” said Chandan K. Sen, PhD, the J. Stanley Battersby Chair and distinguished professor of surgery and director of the Indiana Center for Regenerative Medicine and Engineering at the IU School of Medicine.
