Health Technology Symposium on April 13th!

Health Technology Symposium

The Ruth Lilly Medical Library is sponsoring a Health Technology Symposium on Friday, April 13th , 2018 from 11am-4pm at the Ruth Lilly Learning Center located in the Riley Outpatient Center.  This event is free and open to the University community, no pre-registration is required.

Why are we having this event?

The Ruth Lilly Medical Library’s 3d printing program provides the Medical School with a gateway introduction to 3d printing, and acts as link to other resources and 3d printing on campus.  In 2017, the Library sponsored a successful interdisciplinary 3D printing Makerfaire that brought campus and community makers together.  This year, it was decided to expand the theme to innovation and to include virtual reality.

When and where is the event?

Date: Friday, April 13
Time: 11:00am to 4:00pm
Cost: Free event, No registration required, Drop-ins welcome
Location: Ruth Lilly Learning Center located in the Riley Outpatient Center
Event live streaming at: https://tcs.iuhealth.org (The stream is best viewed with Internet Explorer and requires the Microsoft Silverlight plug-in. Not all presenters will be streamed.)

Schedule

Exhibits throughout the event –

The UITS Advanced Visualization Lab will have VR set up so that people may experience high-end (this is not your smartphone) virtual reality.  Representatives from the IU Student Technology Centers will also have a VR set-up, and be sure to ask about the Ruth Lilly Medical Library’s fledgling VR initiatives.  The Medical Library’s Data Services Librarian will be on hand to promote the Library’s Research Data Services, which include assistance with data management and sharing plans, data sharing and reuse, and open science/research tools.   Attendees will also be able to experience 3d printing and see a showcase of how it is being used in the IU Occupational Therapy curriculum.
