Class of 2026: Electives scheduling for the 2025-2026 academic year begins in mid-February—review the 2024-2025 Electives Catalog now and prepare by utilizing helpful resources on your Advising RoadMap site to guide your planning.

MS3: Prepare for mid-February electives scheduling

Class of 2026: Your Phase 3 core rotation schedules for the 2025-2026 academic year will soon be available in MSAS. Once you receive your core rotation schedule, review it and schedule meetings with lead advisors and career mentors to discuss plans for electives, Step 2, and other considerations.

Electives scheduling will begin in mid-February. To prepare, review the 2024-2025 Electives Catalog to identify electives you might be interested in.

Additionally, we have created various resources available on your Class of 2026 Advising RoadMap, which includes:

A specialty prep guide for electives;
A how-to video for navigating the electives catalog;
Electives catalog links;
Special electives information;
Feedback from your peers about electives;
An FAQ video about planning and scheduling away rotations; and
 An away rotation feedback from previous class years.

As the electives scheduling period approaches, the registrar will send additional information about the specific timing and process for requesting your electives in E*Value. In the meantime, review the Phase 3 Scheduling page for scheduling details and FAQs.

Note: During the initial electives scheduling period (mid-February-mid-March), some electives require advance permission from a course director or proxy before they can be added to your schedule. Some are open enrollment. If you are unsure if a course requires advance permission or have questions about a course, reach out to the primary contact listed in the electives catalog.

If a course requires advance permission:

There will be a blue bubble in the “Availability Matrix” of the course catalog information that says, “Permission Required.”
The “Notes” section of the catalog information will also state, “THIS ELECTIVE DOES NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE INITIAL SENIOR MATCH.”

When requesting permission to enroll in an elective, use professional standards and communicate specific information about the course (including course number and name) and the particular rotation you're interested in (e.g., R6, R5). The permission you upload to E*Value must be specific to the rotation month you request so the registrar can process your request. Please be aware that elective availability may change, and availability indicated in the catalog is not guaranteed.

If a course is available via open enrollment:

There will be a blue bubble in the “Availability Matrix” of the course catalog information that says “Open Enrollment (during initial electives scheduling only)”;
The “Notes” section of the catalog information will state, “THIS ELECTIVE PARTICIPATES IN OPEN ENROLLMENT.”
