MS1s: Complete CITI modules by May 16

Indiana University School of Medicine strongly believes medical students should be familiar with issues related to human subject research and thus requires completion of training in it.

Students in Phase 1 Year 1 (Class of 2028) are expected to complete nine Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) modules by May 16. You received a November 25 email describing how to complete the modules and upload the completion certificate into MedHub.

Why is human subject research important?

Human subject research affects every physician working with patients. It's important to know why patients must be protected during biomedical research and to understand the ethical, practical and regulatory principles involved in doing research. In addition, all practicing physicians need to know about the elements of informed consent and the oversight given to research activities by Institutional Review Boards.
