Choi appointed associate dean for graduate medical education

Jennifer Choi, MD, has been appointed the new associate dean for graduate medical education effective July 2022. Choi has spent the last several years as a leader in graduate medical education at IU School of Medicine, serving as program director for the general surgery residency program in the Department of Surgery since 2014. Choi, associate professor of clinical surgery, joined the faculty in 2007 after completing her general surgery residency at IU School of Medicine. She completed her fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery at IU Health North Hospital. She received her MD degree at IU School of Medicine and earned a bachelor’s degree from Taylor University. Choi was named the associate program director for the general surgery residency in 2011 and was named director in 2014. Active in the Association of Program Directors in Surgery (APDS), she chaired the annual meeting during the 2018-19 academic year. She also has served as an at-large member on both the APDS executive board and board of directors and is an at-large member of the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. In addition to her education leadership roles, Choi is pursuing a master’s degree in health professions education from the University of Illinois—Chicago.
