Jennifer Choi, M.D., is the Program Director for General Surgery Residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. She joined the staff in 2007 after completion of her general surgery training at Indiana University. In 2009 she took a year away from faculty responsibilities and did a year of fellowship training at Indiana University Health – North Hospital in Minimally Invasive Surgery. In 2010, she resumed her faculty role.
Dr. Choi was named the Associate Program Director in 2011 and took over as Program Director in 2014. She is active in the Association of Program Directors in Surgery (APDS), having chaired the Annual Meeting during the 2018-2019 academic year as well as serving as an at-large member on both the APDS Executive Board and Board of Directors. Dr. Choi also serves as an at-large member of the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
In addition to her education leadership roles, Dr. Choi is pursuing her Masters in Health Professions Education from the University of Illinois – Chicago. Dr. Choi also received a promotion to Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Department of Surgery in July 2017.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Choi enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Alex Choi, and their two children, Sadie and Spencer. When not on call, Dr. Choi can be found either at the baseball diamonds or the rock climbing gym with her kids.
