Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

Beginning in Fall 2024, the radiography program will no longer conduct interviews as part of the admission process. A Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) has replaced the personal interview. The TEAS test is a required part of the application for the radiography program, even if a student has a previous college degree or has attended IU Indianapolis previously.

Clinical Observation

Several of our program’s clinical sites offer opportunities for prospective students to job shadow in the radiology department. If you consider joining our program, the faculty strongly recommends that you take advantage of these unique opportunities, which offer an inside look at what technologists do daily.

Radiography clinical observation (job shadow) is optional. Although not required, it is highly encouraged as part of the IU School of Medicine Radiography Program application process. Students who complete clinical observations typically have a better understanding of the career field and are more satisfied with their career selection.

Students applying to the Radiography Program who document clinical observation will earn a bonus experience point on their application. The Admissions Committee requires that these clinical observation hours be completed specifically in radiography (x-ray), at a minimum of two different hospital locations, for a minimum of eight hours total.

Clinical observations may be completed at any hospital location. The student is responsible for coordinating their experience in a timely manner to ensure documentation is completed before the application deadline.
