Paramedic Science Admissions

Applicants interested in pursuing an Associate Degree in Paramedic Science at Indiana University School of Medicine must complete all college-level requirements prior to entry with a minimum grade point average of 2.30 on a 4.00 scale (C). Applicants must also hold the EMT-Basic credential (state or national) and have a minimum of twenty (20) documented patient-care hours as an EMT-B prior to entry. A formal interview is required as part of the application process.

Acceptance into this program requires current EMT-B certification. Applicants must submit a copy of State or National EMT Certification and state-issued driver’s license.

Apply by October 1 for the upcoming spring semester or February 1 for the fall semester.

Scholarship opportunities may be available through the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites may be taken at any accredited college or university. Correspondence courses are not accepted for any of the IU School of Medicine Associate Degree in Paramedic Science prerequisite course work.

*Entering students are strongly recommended to complete the Human Biology I/II labs, but those courses are not required for program admission. The IU School of Medicine Associate Degree in Paramedic Science program suggests that students seeking admission to post-baccalaureate professional degrees within the health programs strongly consider taking the full human anatomy and human physiology sequence.
