Campus Student Services
Students at the South Bend campus can access a wide range of support services from IU School of Medicine. The South Bend campus takes pride in a highly-qualified medical education staff with deep experience in helping students be successful. All centralized student services for the IU School of Medicine operate from the Indianapolis campus, including financial services and student learning environment, mistreatment reporting and conflict resolution support. Localized services are also available, including academic advising, personal counseling, campus safety and peer tutoring.

At the IU School of Medicine—South Bend campus, Beacon Medical Group’s
Mishawaka Primary Plus has been identified as a preferred provider for our
student community. Brian Huber, MD, the medical director, is familiar with the
medical school’s health requirements and works to accommodate the demands
of students’ schedules with extended hours, online scheduling and use of a patient portal for addressing patient needs through asynchronous
communication.
Medical students can access vaccines,
primary care, preventative and women’s health services at BeaconMedical Group’s Mishawaka Primary Plus,
located at 5314 Lincolnway East in Mishawaka, IN 46544. The office phone number
is (574) 584-2812. The office is open from 7 a.m.–7 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and
Thursday, and from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday.
Other diagnostic or therapeutic health
services not available at the location can be accessed by referral.
Urgent care needs arising after office hours
and on weekends can be assessed at BeaconMedPoint locations.
IU School of Medicine permits students to be
excused from required educational experience to seek needed medical care under
the IU School of Medicine Time Away Policy.
The Duncan Student Center at Notre Dame University is a hub for students to collaborate, study and relax. The facility provides a wide variety of fitness and wellness spaces, such as the Smith Center for Recreational Sports and the Graduate Student Lounge. The Smith Center for Reactional Sports offers many amenities, including a climbing wall, an indoor track, weight machines, cardio equipment, fitness programs and the opportunity to join intramural sports.
The Rockne Memorial
The Rockne Memorial at Notre Dame University is a fitness and recreational facility that has an array of amenities including a cardio room, a 25-yard swimming pool and warm-up pool, racquetball courts, and a gymnasium with two basketball courts.
Student Counseling Center
The Student Counseling Center at Indiana University South Bend works together with IU School of Medicine—South Bend to provide in-person mental health services. Students have access to in-person counseling sessions offered by clinical mental health counselors who are aware of the challenging circumstances of medical school and prioritize the confidentiality and well-being of medical students.
