FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INDIANAPOLIS — Anyone who has ever wanted a firsthand view of discoveries and creative endeavors within the laboratories at IUPUI will want to participate in this year’s Research Day activities, which will include self-guided open lab tours of research facilities.

Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Research Day takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 8.

Research Day events begin in the Campus Center Theater, 420 University Blvd., with presentations by the 2016 Research Frontiers Trailblazer Award winners, followed by the keynote presentation.

NPR science correspondent Jon Hamilton will deliver the keynote address from 10 to 11 a.m. His presentation is titled “From Bench to Broadcast: Why Some Science Makes News,” a discussion of how media organizations choose science stories for publication or broadcast.

Self-guided open lab tours will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. and will spotlight the School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI and various offerings in University Library.

Other 2016 Research Day activities include poster sessions featuring faculty, postdoctoral fellow, professional student, graduate student and research staff poster presentations that highlight the groundbreaking research conducted on and beyond the IUPUI campus.

Research Day is open to the general public. A schedule of events and information on registration and parking is available online.
