FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INDIANAPOLIS — A new director of curriculum internationalization will join the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Office of International Affairs on Aug. 17.

Leslie Bozeman, whose career in international education encompasses local, state, national and international initiatives, will assist faculty in adding international components to classes and increase opportunities for more IUPUI students to have international experiences inside and outside the classroom.

In addition, she will provide oversight to the study abroad program.

Bozeman was associate director of global engagement at Virginia Commonwealth University Globe, a global education living and learning community, before coming to IUPUI. She managed the Globe’s curriculum and global engagement initiatives and taught seminars on global education and engagement.

With experience in both student and academic affairs, Bozeman has designed, implemented and assessed undergraduate and graduate campus programs.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Bozeman to the campus,” said Gil Latz, IUPUI associate vice chancellor for international affairs. “She has the expertise to build upon IUPUI’s strong foundation to create a global curriculum for students and brings expertise and leadership to the internationalization priorities of the IUPUI strategic plan.”

IUPUI’s strategic plan calls for broadening and deepening internationalization, forging and expanding effective international partnerships, and positioning students to be global citizens.

“I’m excited about working with an institution that has been recognized nationally for its internationalization initiatives and is actively focused on enhancing its position as a global campus,” Bozeman said. “I look forward to working with the IUPUI schools towards the goal of institutionalizing internationalization.”

Bozeman earned her doctorate in higher education administration with a concentration in international higher education from Boston College, and her M.A. in teaching and B.A. in foreign language and communication media from American University.

Bozeman participated in the Fulbright International Education Administrators program in South Korea this summer. The program helps international education professionals and senior higher education officials from the United States create connections with the societal, cultural and higher education systems of other countries.
