INDIANAPOLIS — A team representing the Office of Student Employment at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis has won a regional competition with its strategies for student employee recognition. The win earns the IUPUI group the opportunity to give a presentation at the National Student Employment Association conference in November in San Francisco.

At a Midwest regional conference for student employee administrators, IUPUI staff  Jenna Corcoran, Craig Pelka, Dawn Rodney and Robert Smith submitted the winning presentation for a session entitled,”Pay It Forward with Appreciation: Customizing your Student Employment Week.”

The IUPUI presentation provided strategies for developing and enhancing Student Employment Week on campuses across the Midwest region, with a specific emphasis on student employee appreciation. Conference attendees selected “Pay It Forward with Appreciation” as the “Best of MASEA,” recognizing it as the most highly rated presentation of the annual midwest conference.

“Being recognized at the 2015 Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators annual conference in Berea, Ky., as the ‘Best of MASEA’ conference presentation is an honor for the Office of Student Employment and IUPUI as a whole,” Pelka, assistant director of student employment and assessment at IUPUI, said.

“IUPUI’s focus on student success transcends geographic and professional boundaries, and the Office of Student Employment is excited to contribute to this important mission, both at IUPUI and across the Midwest. We are thrilled to be able to share our knowledge and experiences with colleagues across the country at the upcoming National Student Employment Association annual conference,” Pelka said.
